04 / ABOUT M1
Experience. Insight. Solutions.
I’m Bill Martin, the man behind M1 controls. I help people understand why their HVAC systems aren’t working as expected—and what they can do about it.
I’ve worked in the HVAC industry since 1994, beginning in the United States Air Force, where I became an HVAC journeyman. That hands-on foundation still shapes how I approach a building: understand the equipment, listen to the people who use and maintain it, and look at how everything works together.
Over the years, my work has grown from commercial HVAC service into building automation, controls programming, project coordination, and commissioning. I’ve worked on new construction, retrofits, and existing systems in schools, universities, hospitals, and government buildings.
I’m especially interested in the problems that don’t have an obvious answer: a building that has never been comfortable, humidity that keeps coming back, or equipment and controls that seem to be working individually but aren’t working well together. I enjoy working through those details and helping owners and service teams find a practical path forward.
With M1, you work directly with me for independent technical advice, troubleshooting, commissioning, and system optimization. My goal is to give you a clearer understanding of your building and useful recommendations you can act on.
M1 provides technical consulting and owner representation. Installation and engineer-of-record responsibilities remain with the appropriate contractor or licensed design professional.
